How to compare tree-removal estimates in Central Florida

Compare the work included before you compare the total price. A useful tree-removal estimate names the trees, describes the work and the cleanup, and makes any exclusions clear. Two different totals can describe two different jobs, and the cheaper one is not a bargain if it leaves half the work for you.

For a homeowner in The Villages, Ocala or the surrounding area, these are the questions worth settling before a crew shows up.

Put the estimates side by side

The work	Which trees or limbs are included? Is the proposal for removal, pruning, or both?
Access	Where will the crew and equipment come in? Talk through gates, driveways and anything close to the tree during the walkthrough.
Wood and debris	Will the material be hauled away, chipped, or left in an agreed spot? Is the final cleanup included?
The remaining stump	What will be left after the removal? If you want the stump dealt with, is that a separate service or excluded altogether?
Schedule and payment	What timing is proposed, what could change it, and what payment terms are written down?

Ask how your property will be protected

Point out the access limits and the spots you care about most: a narrow gate, a septic drain field, a tree standing right beside the house. Those belong in the walkthrough, not in a surprise on the day. Ask how the proposed method accounts for your property instead of assuming every estimate takes the same approach. A removal close to a structure is usually done in sections, with pieces lowered on rigging rather than dropped, so the estimate should say how the tree comes down, not just that it does.

Confirm credentials instead of assuming them

Ask for current proof of insurance, and ask whether the crew works to industry standards. A company name, a clean truck or a low price can't answer either question. The same UF/IFAS guide suggests asking whether a company is insured for property damage, personal liability and workers' compensation, and whether a certified arborist is involved when the job calls for that level of training. Don't assume a credential from a general "tree service" description. Ask, and expect a straight answer.

Does Twisted Pine remove stumps too?
